Over the weekend of 19-21 June 2026, the Together UK Foundation held a ‘Defence Symposium’ involving respected experts in geopolitics, defence
strategy, and public finance.

A ‘White Paper’ was compiled comprising strategic insights from expert discussions, providing recommendations for UK defence policy in a complex
global environment.

A launch of the ‘White Paper’ will take place in early December 2026.

A PDF will be available on the TUKF website, post launch.

On 15 July 2025, Committee Room G of the House of Lords hosted two distinguished defence experts. TUKF Advisory Board member Dr Geoff Sloan of the University of Reading delivered a lecture on the ‘Geopolitics of the British Isles’, followed by Col. Tim Collins OBE, who spoke on the respective defence contributions of Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.

We were extremely grateful to RUSI (Royal United Services Institute) whom we partnered with on Wednesday 2nd June 2025 to host a lecture given by TUKF supporter Col. Tim Collins OBE.

Entitled ‘Northern Ireland’s Contribution to the Defence of the UK’, Col. Collins gave a masterclass of what Northern Ireland and its people had contributed to the defence of the UK through two world wars, international conflicts and subsequent protection of the British Isles.

Lord Bew kindly introduced an evening of lectures by Lee Reynolds and Professor Peter Shirlow at Queen’s University Belfast on 28 November 2024.

The first lecture was given by former DUP special adviser Lee Reynolds, whose address was entitled ‘Where we are. Where we need to get to.’ He was followed by Professor Peter Shirlow FAcSS, Director of the University of Liverpool’s Institute of Irish Studies, who presented ‘The Case for the Union’.

TUKF concluded its first event as over 100 invited ladies joined Baroness Arlene Foster and the TUKF Board for a ‘Focus Group’ women’s conference at The Stormont Hotel in East Belfast.

Among board members who attended the Together UK launch at the Grand Central Hotel in Belfast was the public relations expert Sheila Davidson who said she believed it can win support for the Union from people who don’t vote for traditional unionist parties or don’t vote at all.
